What is your job title?
Secretary V in orthopaedic surgery

What is your favorite or most rewarding part of your position?
It is most rewarding to assist the faculty who are already so busy providing patient care. I enjoy making the process of administrative forms and approvals flow smoothly and managing the flow of the office without having prolonged delays or issues.

What originally made you want to join USA Health?
I retired from the USA College of Nursing after 22 years, but I wasn’t ready to leave the university system. Naturally, I landed on the “health” side. I was at MCI for three years and then was transferred to orthopaedic surgery. It has been a challenge, but it is one that I have enjoyed. I have learned a lot about healthcare and have met so many great people.

How long have you been with USA Health?
I have been with USA Health since May 2018.

What has working with USA Health taught you?
Working with USA Health has taught me the resilience and dedication of healthcare providers and health support teams. The medical assistants, RNs, casting tech, radiologists, physical therapists – they are all wonderful, caring and supportive people who make a huge difference in so many people’s lives. It’s humbling to play a small role in that process.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and our granddaughters. They are the joy of our lives. We love taking camping adventures (in an RV, of course – no tent camping for me!). I also enjoy reading and growing plants and flowers in my yard.

What advice would you give to people who want to work in the health system?
Be ready for an adventure. Every day brings a new challenge and new rewards. Be prepared to be someone who makes a difference in your community by being a part of USA Health, because it makes lives better, it makes progress happen and above all, always have patients and their care at the forefront.
