Message from Leadership

Thanks to your collaborative efforts, USA Health was well prepared and sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Sally.

Published Sep 22nd, 2020

This time last week, we were watching Hurricane Sally inch its way toward the Gulf Coast, with little expectation that it would intensify into a strong Category 2 storm or make a direct hit on Alabama. It seems like a lifetime ago. But thanks to your collaborative efforts, USA Health was well prepared and sustained minimal damage.

Thank you to everyone who worked on logistics to prepare for the wind and rain, even moving some patients to more secure areas as a safety precaution. Thank you to all who came in early or remained on duty after your shift to keep operations running smoothly.

Once the storm passed, our building, maintenance and environmental staff members jumped right in to lead cleanup and recovery efforts. As a healthcare system, we were able to bounce back quickly because of you.

We recognize the many personal sacrifices that all of you have made – not only during this storm, but all year -- to give your best to our patients. Your dedication is evident, and, as we’ve said before, this is what makes USA Health such a special place to work.

“Our Chemo Sabe volunteers astound me with their dedication, not just to patients but to the staff as well,” said Susan Crutchfield, community and physician outreach manager at the Mitchell Cancer Institute. “They seem to lift everyone’s spirits when there, and they have a reciprocal caring relationship with staff.”
