USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital received 20 Facebook Portals to be used within the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and the high-risk obstetrics unit.

Facebook Portals allow users to video chat with their Facebook friends. Maury Carlisle donated the gifts in memory of his wife Nikki Pilot-Carlisle, a former patient of the Bridge Program.

The Bridge Program at Children’s & Women’s Hospital is designed to support families who face high-risk pregnancies. As part of the program, a nurse attends each high-risk appointment with a patient, arranges for counseling and helps create a plan for delivery and infant aftercare.

“We are grateful for Maury’s donation because the portals will change isolating hospital stays for countless patients and their families,” said Rene Sprague, coordinator of the Bridge Program. “It doesn’t surprise me that Nikki’s amazing family would want to bring joy to people who may be struggling during hard times.”
