USA Health adds urologist specializing in men’s health
Nicholas A. Deebel, M.D., treats a wide range of conditions affecting men’s sexual and reproductive health, including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility and vasectomy reversal.

USA Health is expanding its urology services with the addition of Nicholas A. Deebel, M.D., a fellowship-trained urologist who specializes in men’s sexual health and male infertility.
Deebel treats a wide range of conditions affecting men’s sexual and reproductive health, including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility and vasectomy reversal. He will see patients at USA Health University Urology and serve as an assistant professor of urology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama.
“I am passionate about men’s health as it represents a continuum of care over the course of a man’s life,” Deebel said. “The issues I treat are often sensitive in nature and affect both the patient and their partners. I do not take this lightly, and I am incredibly honored when couples trust me with their care as it relates to vulnerable issues like intimacy and family building.”
A male reproductive medicine specialist, Deebel will partner with reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialists across the Gulf Coast to support men and their partners who are pursuing family-building options. His expertise includes advanced sperm-retrieval procedures such as microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) and microsurgical vasectomy reversal.
He is USA Health’s first urologist to earn the AMS 700 Center of Excellence designation for inflatable penile prosthesis surgery, which addresses erectile dysfunction. “This designation means I am in the top 10% of urologic surgeons in the country performing this surgery, and I am so pleased to share this quality care with men of the greater Gulf Coast region,” he said.
He also specializes in treating Peyronie’s disease, a condition characterized by abnormal penile curvature, offering the full spectrum of care from office-based injectable therapies to complex reconstructive surgery.
As part of his practice, Deebel will collaborate with specialists at the Mitchell Cancer Institute to develop a multidisciplinary prostate cancer survivorship program. The program will focus on preserving and restoring urinary continence and erectile function for men undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Deebel said his goal for his patients is to help them understand that many conditions commonly dismissed as a normal part of aging can be treated effectively. “There is no concern too small, and we can often help,” he said. “One of the most common things I hear from my patients is, ‘I wish I had addressed this years ago.’”
Deebel said he is honored to join an academic health system. “It allows me to train the next generation of urologic surgeons, conduct practice-changing research and serve in a tertiary referral system for patients across the Gulf Coast region who have been searching for answers to their healthcare needs,” he said. “Academic health systems also offer the ideal opportunity for multidisciplinary care.”
His research interests include male reproductive medicine, sexual health outcomes and testosterone replacement therapy. He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and has presented at national meetings. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, and the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons.
Deebel earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his urologic surgery residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in andrology and male infertility at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, where he trained under world-renowned specialists in men’s sexual health and male fertility.
