The General Pediatrics clinic at the new USA Health Strada Patient Care Center combines Midtown Pediatrics and the Children's Medical Center, two clinics previously located at USA's Springhill Avenue Campus.
The clinic has two components: the Urgent Care Clinic for sick, follow-up and same-day appointment visits, and the Continuity Clinic, mostly for well-baby checks, physicals, immunizations, and follow-up non-emergent care.
Children can receive their routine check-ups, which include an assessment of their growth and development, a physical examination, childhood immunizations, and general patient education about childhood topics (e.g. nutrition, sleep, elimination, behavior, safety and anticipatory guidance on development). Some childhood illnesses commonly seen are cold, ear and throat complaints, asthma (wheezing), eczema (allergies of skin), skin rashes, seasonal allergies, eye complaints, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Patients with illnesses that require additional care are admitted directly to USA Children's & Women's Hospital or referred to subspecialty doctors.
Patients are seen by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic is closed for lunch. For after-hours questions or concerns, patients can call the main clinic number and the answering service will contact the doctor on call for telephone consultations. If the child needs to be seen immediately, he or she should be taken to USA Children's & Women's Hospital Evaluation Center or the nearest emergency center.
