More hands-on cooking classes focusing on Mediterranean, Sicilian and Tex-Mex cuisine are scheduled to begin soon.

Published Jun 4th, 2025

The USA Health Integrative Health and Wellness Program will continue to offer its cuisine-specific offerings this summer with hands-on cooking classes that focus on Mediterranean, Sicilian and Tex-Mex dishes, and one seasonal addition on cool summer meals.

Multiple sessions of each class will be offered at the teaching kitchens at the Mapp Family Campus in Fairhope and University Commons in Mobile.

Employees and their dependents on USA Choice, Select and Consumer health insurance plans are eligible to take four classes for $10. For the public, and those not on specified health insurance plans, the classes are $30 each.

One additional demonstration is scheduled at the Commons in Mobile on Wednesday, July 2, from noon to 1 p.m. led by Katie Williams, D.O., FAAP, a pediatric gastroenterologist at USA Health, focusing on the relationship of gut health and diet. Demonstrations are $5 for employees and their dependents with USA insurance plans or $15 for community members.

Classes may fill up quickly, as a number of employees have already been taking advantage of this benefit. To learn more about what dishes will be prepared and to sign up for classes, click here.
