USA Health Sports Medicine to resume Saturday walk-in clinic for student athletes
Last year, more than 100 student athletes were treated on Saturdays at USA Health for injuries ranging from fractures and tears to sprains and strains.

To address the injuries of student athletes promptly, USA Health Sports Medicine is bringing back its Saturday walk-in injury clinic for the fall.
Starting Aug. 24, USA Health Sports Medicine providers will care for middle school, high school and college athletes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays at the Strada Patient Care Center in Mobile. No appointment is necessary.
“When a student athlete is injured, we don’t want them to have to wait until the following week to be seen by a healthcare provider,” said Jeff Brewer, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon at USA Health and interim chair of orthopaedic surgery at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. “The Saturday clinic enables athletes who are injured on Thursday or Friday nights to be seen so they can return to their sport quickly and safely.”
Orthopaedic surgeon Brad Clay, M.D., and sports medicine physicians Peter Rippey, M.D., Sarah McMullin, M.D., and Bishop Carmichael, D.O., will lead the care for patients at the clinic. Last year, more than 100 student athletes were treated on Saturdays for injuries ranging from fractures and tears to sprains and strains.
Entrance for the Saturday clinic will be located on the second floor of the Strada Patient Care Center at 1601 Center St. in Mobile, and check-in will be on the third floor. For more information, contact USA Health at 251-665-8200.
