Mayer Mitchell Award to be presented to cancer researcher

Since the read-a-thon started, parents and caregivers have been encouraged to read to their premature and sick infants since reading to babies is an important part of early development.

Research on school-based health centers shows significant health benefits for students, including fewer emergency room visits and hospitalizations and improved health outcomes, which can in turn lead to improved attendance and greater academic success.

The Becker’s Spine Review list includes neurosurgeons across the nation who “are advancing the field through clinical innovation, research, leadership and education.” 

“She serves as a role model for our trainees and remains steadfast in her mission to advance pediatric care. We are deeply grateful for her longstanding commitment to the values and purpose of our department and for the enduring impact she has made on the children, families, and communities we serve,” said Benjamin Estrada, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.
