USA Health was one of seven member organizations recognized this past fall by the HealthTrust Performance Group for its dedication to delivering outstanding performance. The recipients demonstrated excellence in areas including clinical innovation, non-acute, operations, social stewardship and pharmacy, according to HealthTrust, an international healthcare improvement organization.
USA Health earned the Outstanding Member award for achieving significant financial improvement through robust engagement across multiple initiatives. Through high contract compliance, implementation of key cost-saving measures, and active engagement in new contract categories, USA Health reported more than $6 million in savings during the recent fiscal year.
“The Outstanding Member award is a testament to the dedication and strategic focus of our entire USA Health team,” said Chase Labrato, health system director of materials management at USA Health. “By driving strong contract compliance, embracing cost-saving initiatives and actively engaging in new opportunities, we’ve not only improved our financial performance but also strengthened our ability to serve our patients and communities.”
Labrato said USA Health utilized HealthTrust’s dashboards to identify conversion opportunities before vetting them out through its Value Analysis Committees. The health system partnered with the HealthTrust Specials Ops team to renegotiate physician preference contracts and leverage its vendor spend across multiple service lines to drive savings. USA Health also implemented the HealthTrust Medical Device Management dashboards for specific surgical service lines to engage with physicians around cost variances by procedure and surgeon.
Kristen C. Roberts, chief financial officer for the University of South Alabama, said the award reflects the hard work and smart decisions made across USA Health, the health system for USA. “Through strong financial stewardship and a shared commitment to excellence, we are achieving meaningful savings and also reinforcing our mission to improve health outcomes and serve communities in our region.”
The Member Recognition Awards were presented at the 2025 HealthTrust University Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
