Natalie Fox, DNP, PNP-BC, CEO of USA Health, the academic health system for the University of South Alabama, has been named to the 2026 Class of Women Who Shape the State by al.com, an honor that recognizes leaders whose work is making a lasting impact across Alabama.

“Dr. Fox’s recognition as one of Alabama’s Women Who Shape the State is a testament to her exceptional leadership, integrity and commitment to service,” said USA President Jo Bonner. “She leads with purpose and compassion, and her work continues to strengthen USA Health’s mission while improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

In 2025, Fox was promoted to CEO of USA Health. A three-time graduate of the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, she has built her career within the academic health system since joining the organization in 2011. Her leadership has focused on expanding access to care, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.

Before becoming CEO, Fox led the overall strategy, performance, and operations of the USA Health Physician Enterprise, which includes more than 400 physicians, 300 advanced practice providers and more than 300 residents and fellows delivering care throughout the region. As assistant administrator and chief nursing officer for USA Health Physicians Group, she guided major initiatives to improve population health and reduce barriers to care.

Her leadership proved especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she directed USA Health’s testing and vaccination efforts in partnership with the City of Mobile. That work earned her the Mobile Community Health Leadership Award and an Exceptional Citizenship Award from Sandy Stimpson in 2022. That same year, she received Alabama’s Top Nurses Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 2023, Fox was appointed by Gov. Kay Ivey to a three-year term on the state’s Certificate of Need Review Board. In 2024, she was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s Rising Stars Under 40 list. She also serves as the designee for President Bonner on the board of the Alabama School of Healthcare Science and was named dean of the 2025 Leadership Mobile class.
