Course for supervisors fortifies leadership

To equip managers and team leads with the skills they need to be successful, USA Health is providing a two-day course for employees that covers best practices and policies for leading others.

Published Apr 26th, 2022

The Supervisory Overview course is set for Monday, May 9, and Monday, May 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the first-floor multipurpose room at USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital. The course is free, but registration is required through Eventbrite.

"This class is open to all employees affiliated with the health system who are in a supervisory or managerial position," said Charles Smith, director of employee relations for USA Health. "Especially for employees who have been promoted, we want to provide them with the tools they need to be successful in that new role."

The two-day course will assist in strengthening the understanding of supervisory roles and developing leadership within USA Health, he said.

Day one topics include employee relations, counseling employees, interviewing, the Progressive Disciplinary Process and the iCIMS Applicant Tracking System. Day two will cover compensation policies, benefits, safety in the workplace, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission laws. Attendees can receive CEU credits for completing both days.

Light morning refreshments are provided. Lunch is on your own.
