USA Health is expanding its oncology care team with the addition of Nabin R. Karki, M.D., a fellowship-trained medical oncologist who sees patients at the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute, the region’s only academic cancer treatment center.

Karki, also an adjunct assistant professor of interdisciplinary clinical oncology, specializes in the treatment of genitourinary cancers, which are malignancies found in the urinary system and the male reproductive system. He will focus on prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer.

“Patients are at the center of our cancer care program,” Karki said. “You can expect a collaborative approach wherein my team and I will work with each patient to provide individualized, evidence-based, comprehensive care.”

Karki completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. He completed a residency in internal medicine at MedStar Health in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his medical degree from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Nepal.

Karki said he is eager to join an academic health system. “I strongly believe in a multidisciplinary approach and would like to make clinical trials accessible and available to my patients,” he said. “In addition, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with trainees.”

Among his research interests are castrate-resistant prostate cancer, kidney cancer, adjuvant therapy, immunotherapy, and health services and outcomes.
