Parents and caregivers have an opportunity on Friday, September 29, to ensure their children’s car seats are properly installed. Nearly a dozen nationally certified car seat safety technicians will be at Pediatric Associates of Mobile offering free inspections from 9 a.m. until noon.
While there is no charge for the safety inspections, appointments are needed. To schedule a free appointment, sign up.
During car seat inspections, all improperly installed car seats (and boosters) are removed and checked for expiration dates and damage. The event will be at Pediatric Associates of Mobile, located at 740 Museum Dr Suite E, Mobile, AL 36608.
The event is being staffed by USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, USA Health Pediatrics and Pediatric Associates of Mobile/USA Health.
Unfortunately, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children. Research shows that some 46% of car seats are not used correctly. Using age- and size-appropriate car seats and installing them correctly are the best ways to reduce crash fatalities among children, safety experts say.
