About Neuromuscular Treatment at USA Health

Neuromuscular disorders are often complex and challenging to diagnose and treat. At USA Health, our fellowship-trained neurologists specialize in the comprehensive care of these rare and frequently debilitating conditions.

These disorders affect nerves, muscles, and the communication between them, leading to a wide range of symptoms that can vary significantly from person to person. Our goal is to manage symptoms, enhance mobility, and slow disease progression whenever possible.

Conditions Treated in USA Health’s Neuromuscular Program

ALS

Also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, this progressive neurodegenerative disease affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and loss of function.

CIDP

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy is a neurological disorder involving progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms due to nerve inflammation.

Demyelinating Neuropathy

With this condition, the protective covering of the nerves (myelin) is damaged, leading to slowed or blocked nerve signals.

Muscular Dystrophy

Muscular Dystrophy is a group of genetic disorders characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness.

Myasthenia Gravis

This autoimmune disorder causes weakness in the voluntary muscles, often worsening with activity and improving with rest.

Myopathies

Myopathies are a group of muscle diseases that cause muscle weakness due to abnormalities in the muscle fibers themselves.

Poly Neuropathy

This condition involves damage to multiple peripheral nerves, often causing numbness, tingling, and weakness, typically in the hands and feet.

EMG Laboratory

Conveniently located within our department, the EMG laboratory offers testing, diagnosis, and treatment—all in one place. The lab performs two main types of tests: the nerve conduction study and the electromyography (EMG) test.
