In addition to completing a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Louisville and Affiliated Hospitals, Dr. Brooks completed surgical research at Weill Cornel Medical College in New York. Dr. Brooks is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Ronald M. Brooks, M.D., led the third surgery performed in Alabama in which a mastectomy patient received MENTOR MemoryGel Enhance Breast implants, the first and only implant line specifically designed for women with larger breasts following mastectomy.
The University of South Alabama won Best Local College and Best Local College President while USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute was named Best Oncology Practice in the 2025 Nappies.
