The USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI) is expanding access to specialized care for patients across the Alabama Gulf Coast with the addition of Sana Ozair, M.D., a medical oncologist and hematologist.

Ozair has advanced fellowship training in hematology and oncology completed at MCI. A graduate of the University of South Alabama and the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine, she brings to the new role a clinical background in academic medicine and patient-centered care.
At MCI, Ozair provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of cancers and blood disorders, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, individualized treatment plans.
“I decided to pursue a career in hematology and oncology because this field allows physicians to build profound and long-lasting relationships with patients,” said Ozair. “It is at the forefront of medical innovation, and the complexity of cancer biology and blood disorders provides continuous learning opportunities.”
Ozair also emphasized her commitment to academic medicine and collaboration. “Academic medicine offers diverse challenges, from complex clinical cases to research and teaching,” she said. “These centers provide access to novel clinical trials, advanced technology, and multidisciplinary teams. Working with residents, fellows, and students keeps clinicians engaged with current literature and fosters lifelong learning.”
When asked about the most rewarding aspects of her work, Ozair noted, “The meaningful relationships formed with patients and the rapid pace of medical innovation that allows for life-changing treatments.”
Ozair is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ozair back to MCI as a practicing physician,” said Theresa McLaughlin, administrator at MCI. “Her training here, combined with her dedication to advancing cancer care, makes her a valuable addition to our team and to the patients we serve.”
Ozair sees patients at MCI in Mobile, located at 1660 Spring Hill Avenue. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 251-410-1010.
