USA Health has expanded its urology services with the addition of Dimple Chanamolu, M.B.B.S., M.D., a fellowship-trained urologist who specializes in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate, as well as urinary stone disease, and urologic malignancies.

Chanamolu joins the practice of USA Health University Urology and will hold the academic title of assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. He most recently worked as an attending urologist at Camden Clark Medical Center, part of WVU Medicine, in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Chanamolu will be the first provider on the upper Gulf Coast performing Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laser beam to remove tissue from the prostate when it is blocking the flow of urine.
“Dr. Chanamolu will bring a new and novel approach to the way we treat BPH and stone disease helping us continue to build our Endourology program, and will be the first person performing HoLEP in our region,” said Christopher E. Keel, D.O., FACS, associate professor and chair of the Department of Urology. “This is another example of how USA Health continues to provide the most advanced care for urologic conditions.
Chanamolu earned a medical degree from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences/NRI Medical College in Guntur, India. He completed a urology residency at the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences in Narketpally, Telangana, India.
He is triple fellowship trained, having completed a fellowship in nephrology/renal transplant at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and fellowships in endourology/oncology and urologic oncology/robotic surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Chanamolu said he was drawn to an academic health system by the opportunity to mentor urology residents and to build USA Health’s expertise in BPH surgeries.
“My overarching goal is to achieve the best outcomes for patients by using minimally invasive surgery and the latest advances in the field,” he said.
His research focuses on BPH, laser enucleation in urology and other minimally invasive procedures, and the outcomes of different modalities of surgery.
Chanamolu will see patients at University Urology, 3290 Dauphin St., Suite 400, in Mobile. To make an appointment, call 251-660-5930.
