The University of South Alabama Foundation named Tabitha English, a patient access clerk for USA Health’s radiology department at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, as the 2025 recipient of the annual Greiner Radiology Award.

Established by the family of the late Frank Greiner, M.D., a beloved USA Health radiologist, the endowed award recognizes employees who embody the qualities he valued most: excellence in work, courage to do what is right, independence and self-initiative, and a warm sense of humor. The award is administered by Maxey J. Roberts, managing director of the USA Foundation.

English was nominated by colleagues who praised her exceptional professionalism, compassion, and proactive approach to her job duties.

“Tabitha consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence in all that she does,” said Kettrell Milton, patient access services manager at Children’s & Women’s Hospital. “She is attentive to the needs of others, whether it’s offering a warm blanket to a patient who is cold or sharing words of encouragement with someone who is feeling discouraged. Tabitha is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure others feel valued and cared for.”

English was also described as a person of unwavering integrity and strong moral character by Milton, who added: “Tabitha exemplifies what it means to be a self-starter. She not only fulfills her duties with diligence and reliability but consistently goes beyond what is required. When a need arises, she does not wait to be asked — she steps in to help. Her proactive attitude and dedication ensure that patients receive not just care, but an exceptional experience every day.”

“Tabitha goes above and beyond to assist patients and their families as they arrive in radiology,” said Micheal Brown, radiology diagnostic supervisor at Children’s & Women’s. “Her laughter is contagious, and she greets everyone with a smile. Her independence and self-initiative shine as she does her best to do what is right by the patient and by hospital procedures.”

Roberts and Suzy Figarola, M.D., chair of the Department of Radiology at USA Health, presented the award to English during a ceremony on Sept. 19.
