USA statement regarding Sept. 10 social media video

Published Sep 11th, 2025

Following the shooting yesterday in Utah that claimed the life of political influencer Charlie Kirk, a TikTok video was posted by an individual who shared a post from a healthcare worker that was allegedly making light of the situation. The individual who reportedly created the video was never an employee of USA Health, but was hired by an outside agency as a contract nurse for 12 weeks during the height of the pandemic. She left her assignment at USA Health in January 2021. While the individual was wearing a USA Health-branded jacket, she has no affiliation with USA Health.

While every individual has a right to free speech, the University of South Alabama does not condone such messaging and it does not represent the values, mission or beliefs of USA Health.
