USA Health opens Saturday clinic for injured athletes
The clinic at the Strada Patient Care Center will serve middle school, high school and collegiate athletes.

To get injured players back in the game quickly and safely, USA Health’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery opened a Saturday walk-in clinic at the Strada Patient Care Center in Mobile. The clinic serves middle school, high school and collegiate athletes.
Every Saturday during the fall, USA Health’s sports medicine physicians and surgeons will care for athletes from all sports. James Slauterbeck, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon at USA Health and professor and chair of orthopaedic surgery at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, started the initiative to provide an opportunity to diagnose and treat injuries quickly.
“The Saturday clinic allows parents, trainers and coaches to be a part of the process to return athletes to their sport,” Slauterbeck said. “Sometimes, the worst part about being injured is waiting until the next week to be seen by a healthcare provider. At USA Health, the athlete will be seen on Saturday after an injury has occurred.”
Slauterbeck, along with Brad Clay, M.D., and Peter Rippey, M.D., sports medicine fellowship-trained and board-certified physicians, will treat patients.
Patients will register for the clinic on the first floor. The hours of operation are from 9-11 a.m. No appointments are necessary. For more information, contact the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at 251-665-8200.
