USA Health celebrated National Volunteer Week with several events held across the academic healthcare system. Volunteers from USA Health University Hospital, Children’s & Women’s Hospital, and the Mobile and Fairhope locations of the Mitchell Cancer Institute were treated to a luncheon at the Bluegill restaurant.

Chaplain Kim Crawford-Meeks, BCC, spiritual care manager for USA Health, offered those gathered a blessing of the hands.
Those who share their time and talents as volunteers at USA Health Providence Hospital also enjoyed an annual volunteer appreciation luncheon on the campus in west Mobile.

Volunteers make a strong impact on the day-to-day operations of the health system, serving in a variety of roles. In the last 12 months, 198 volunteers donated 9,857 hours in service to USA Health.
“It’s hard to overstate the vital importance of our volunteers who continuously support the delivery of healthcare across our hospitals and the Mitchell Cancer Institute,” said Rebekah Blanchard, director of volunteer services for USA Health. “Every single person who donates their time brings a heart for service to our patients and team members that’s invaluable to the care we provide.”
For those ages 18 and older, volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year at USA Health hospitals. To learn more about how members of the community can take part, visit usahealthsystem.com/volunteering. Current USA Health employees are not eligible to volunteer.
