As Mobile County maintains the highest number of COVID-19 cases reported in Alabama, USA Health marked more than 2,600 tests for the virus administered to patients since the outbreak began.

Public testing at Ladd-Peebles Stadium began April 6, 2020. At least 186 of the more than 2,600 tests administered have been positive for COVID-19. Positive results are reported to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

In partnership with the City of Mobile, tests have been administered to patients, first responders including law enforcement, fire fighters, nursing home workers, county jail staff and USA Health personnel.

“As we move into May and continue to see patients contract COVID-19 in Mobile, testing for the coronavirus remains vital in our community,” said Michael Chang, M.D., chief medical officer for USA Health. “We are pleased to be able to continue this public drive-through site to safely test individuals and employees of essential businesses.”

As a reminder, potential patients will be required to be screened by phone to determine if testing is needed. If that’s the case, patients will be given a virtual appointment then have a time scheduled for testing, if that’s indicated.

The phone number for the public to call is 1-888-USA-2650 (1-888-872-2650). Phones are answered weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The tests are performed weekdays from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

No one will be admitted to the site for testing without an appointment and proper identification.

Ladd-Peebles Stadium will continue to serve as the testing site for USA Health employees and patients who have been screened and approved for testing. USA Health patients should contact their USA Health provider if they believe they need to be tested.
