Update on ‘legacy’ email addresses

To continue to receive emails currently being forwarded, USA Health employees with legacy addresses should contact senders directly and update the addresses by Oct. 15.

Published Sep 29th, 2020

Several years ago, USA Health employee email accounts were migrated from a southalabama.edu or usouthal.edu address to a health.southalabama.edu address. Since then, emails received at these previous, or “legacy,” addresses have been forwarded automatically to the new addresses.

To reduce the risk of ransomware emails and phishing attempts, USA Health no longer will forward these emails as of Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. This change will not affect any emails being sent directly to a health.southalabama.edu address.

To continue to receive emails currently being forwarded, USA Health employees with legacy addresses should contact senders directly and update the addresses by Oct. 15.

Employees who have an unusual situation in which they need to maintain the previous email account may contact Blake Hadley, manager of information security, at bhadley@health.southalabama.edu prior to Oct. 15. Requests will be reviewed on an individual basis.
