The second phase of construction on the Fanny Meisler Trauma Center will begin Wednesday.

Patients and visitors who would normally enter the emergency department through the waiting room entrance will be directed to enter through the main hospital lobby. External and internal signage will be installed to help direct traffic.

Lawrence Gardner, director of facilities management for University Hospital, said the second phase of construction is expected to take about 10 weeks.

During that time, the emergency waiting room doors as well as the previous ambulance entrance will be closed. The new temporary ambulance entrance will be to the west of the front lobby.

Gardner reminds employees to practice good customer service as construction continues. “If someone appears to be confused and lost, ask if you can be of assistance,” he said.
