USA Health celebrated the “topping off” of the physician office building at the Mapp Family Campus in Baldwin County. The ceremony marks the facility reaching its highest point.

“This is a significant milestone in the construction of this 50,000-square-foot physician office building,” said Owen Bailey, M.S.H.A., FACHE, chief executive officer of USA Health. “In five months, we have gone from site preparation to reaching the highest point on this structure. It is exciting to see the progress as we strive to bring more access to academic medicine to the people in Baldwin County and the upper Gulf Coast.”

Additionally, a 25,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center is scheduled to begin later this spring. The Mapp Family Campus is located at the intersections of state highways 181 and 104, just outside of Fairhope.

In a tradition that dates back to ancient Scandinavia, the construction team at the site hoisted the traditional white beam, tree and American flag to the top of the building after community members, representatives of USA Health, and the construction team signed the beam.

Standing three-stories high, the physician office building will be home to Baldwin Family Medicine and USA Health specialty care providers to better meet the healthcare needs of the people in the region. Specialties will include neurology, cardiology and surgical specialties including pediatric and adult gastroenterology and urology. The building also will house a full array of imaging technology, including X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, CT and MRI.

USA Health physicians and other providers will incorporate health and wellness strategies for their patients along with traditional medicine. A demonstration kitchen and community room will be included in the facility. Caregivers and coaches will provide opportunities to engage patients in movement, relaxation and healthy-eating classes, with the goal of helping people lead longer, better lives.

The physician office building is scheduled to open this fall. View photos from the event.
