Lauren Sutley, MSN, RN, CIC, has been promoted to director of infection prevention and control for USA Health. She previously served as health system senior manager of infection prevention.
In her new role, Sutley will be responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and evaluation of infection prevention and control programs at USA Health. She will work to align regulatory standards, foster systemwide collaboration, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient and employee safety.
“Lauren is a trusted leader who brings passion, integrity, and clinical excellence to everything she does,” said Rachel Seaman, M.D., chief quality officer for USA Health and chief medical officer for USA Health University Hospital. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to enhance infection prevention practices and protect the health of our patients, caregivers, and community.”
Sutley has more than 10 years of experience in nursing, nursing management, and infection prevention and control. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mobile and a master’s degree in nursing administration from the University of South Alabama.
Sutley describes patient safety as a team sport. “I’m focused on empowering our nursing infection preventionist team to be true partners to the nurses at the bedside,” she said. “My goal is to ensure that the strategic work we do – the data and the planning – translates into real, daily support for our frontline staff.
“When we work hand-in-hand and foster a culture where everyone feels heard and backed up, we aren't just hitting a metric; we’re creating a safer, stronger environment for our patients and for each other,” she said.
