USA Health has named Josh Snow, MSHA, currently CEO of University Hospital, as market CEO, Adult Hospitals Division, overseeing University Hospital and Providence Hospital.
The appointment represents an important step in USA Health’s continued growth and its mission as Alabama’s only academic health system along the Gulf Coast. With the two hospitals located about 8 miles apart, unified leadership will create opportunities to better align clinical services, advance operational excellence and support strategic growth across the health system.
“Bringing University Hospital and Providence Hospital together under unified leadership positions us to build on the strengths of both campuses while creating a more coordinated experience for our patients, physicians, staff and community,” said Natalie Fox, DNP, CEO of USA Health. “Josh understands our academic mission and the important role both hospitals play in serving the health needs of our region. His leadership will be important as we continue building a stronger, more integrated health system.”
Under the new leadership structure, each hospital will continue to build upon its distinct strengths and role within USA Health’s broader mission.
University Hospital will remain the anchor for specialized, intensive medical care within the health system’s academic mission. Providence Hospital will sharpen its focus on cardiovascular, pulmonary, vascular and surgical services, alongside a growing medicine service line, with an emphasis on operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.
“University Hospital and Providence Hospital each bring important strengths to our health system,” Snow said. “By working more closely together, we have an opportunity to strengthen the services we provide and ensure we are positioned to meet the evolving needs of our patients and communities.”
The integrated approach is designed to strengthen USA Health’s academic and clinical enterprise while creating greater coordination and efficiency across its adult hospitals.
“Our focus remains advancing our academic mission, providing exceptional care and improving the health of the communities we serve,” Fox said. “This structure gives us an opportunity to do that even better.”
