USA Health kicks off SHIELD safety reporting platform
As of Thursday, 196 safety and feedback forms had been submitted through the new SHIELD safety reporting platform. This reflects an almost 100% increase when compared to prior averages.
A letter from Michael Chang, M.D., FACS, system chief medical officer and associate vice president for medical affairs:
The SHIELD kickoff last week was quite a success, and it was because of you! As of 3 p.m. Thursday, we as a system had submitted 196 safety and feedback forms. That’s an almost 100% increase when compared to our prior averages. Please keep it up – your input will help us create a safer workplace and patient care environment. Here are some updates and questions we received so far this week:
- First Time Log in: If you have not logged in to date, please do so. We have had to troubleshoot for folks, and we have additional support this week to get the work completed.
- Updated Areas: Employee Hub and Workspace One (remote) have been updated to reflect all access to RLDatix applications.
- Cerner Fix: Many of you shared the issues with the Cerner access. The USA Health IT team is working diligently to get it resolved. In the meantime, you can still use the RLD icon in Cerner. By entering the patient’s last name or completing the MRN search, it will pull the patient information into the file.
- Pre-Go-Live Submissions: Some team members also asked about what happened to the RL6 files submitted before SHIELD go-live. Managers will continue to have access to RL6 to complete those files.
- Feedback to Submitter: USA Health has heard your feedback in regards of hearing any follow-up from the events submitted. With SHIELD, you can expect to receive follow-up within a 21-day period after submitted from your manager. The Safety team will be helping leadership through this new process.
- Raffles/Prizes: Through Tuesday, June 10, every SHIELD submission is an entry for prizes and swag. The more you submit increases your chances of winning a Yeti water bottle, a bag, or a gift card – just to name a few!
- Keyword Search: When using the free text search field, if there are keywords that you feel should pull up a form, please send them to Stephanie Grabowsky ([email protected]), so she can get them added.
Again, we can’t thank you enough for the success of this week. If you do have any questions or issues, continue to reach out to Stephanie Grabowsky ([email protected]), and she will be able to assist you.
Thank you,
Michael Chang, M.D., FACS

Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs
