USA Health Providence Hospital has been recognized on Forbes' inaugural Top Hospitals by State list, earning a place among Alabama's highest-performing hospitals based on nationally reported measures of quality and patient care. The recognition highlights hospitals that demonstrate excellence in patient outcomes, best practices, value and patient experience.
The business magazine rankings are based on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog and evaluate 56 quality measures, with particular emphasis on clinical outcomes such as mortality, infections and readmissions. The methodology also accounts for social drivers of health to provide a more comprehensive comparison of hospitals serving different communities.

Metzger said recognition by Forbes reflects Providence's commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through collaboration, innovation and continuous quality improvement.

Metzger credited the hospital's physicians, nurses and staff for earning the distinction.

As part of the academic health system for the University of South Alabama, Providence Hospital combines advanced clinical care, research and education to expand access to specialized services for patients across southwest Alabama and the Gulf Coast.
While the recognition celebrates the hospital's current performance, Metzger said it also reinforces Providence's long-term commitment to advancing healthcare in the region.
