Members of the leadership team at USA Health took time to pen heartfelt messages of gratitude to our nursing staff.

Published May 7th, 2024

From the bedside to the boardroom, USA Health employs more than 2,840 registered nurses — making up almost 40% of our workforce — and spanning more than 40 locations including three hospitals, an academic cancer center, and dozens of medical practices in two counties and two states.

Nationally, nursing is the largest healthcare profession in the United States, with nearly 4.7 million registered nurses (RNs) nationwide, according to the American Association of the Colleges of Nursing.

During Nurses Week 2024, USA Health is celebrating our nurses in a variety of ways, from giving them custom T-shirts and special meals to continuing-education opportunities. Check Insider next week, when we'll be sharing more photos from Nurses Week celebrations. We also asked members of USA Health’s leadership team to share their thoughts about what nurses mean to them.

Here’s what they had to say:

“We deeply appreciate your commitment to USA Health and the positive impact you make every day in the lives of the patients and families we serve. The incredible patient-centered care you provide with such compassion is so appreciated. Thank you for being such dedicated members of our team and for your support of our mission of helping people lead longer, better lives. Happy Nurses Week!”

Owen Bailey, MSHA, FACHE | CEO & Senior Associate Vice President of Medical Affairs

“Nursing is at the heart of all that we do at USA Health. Nurses advocate for their patients and families, seek to understand what is important to them, and create spaces for healing. Being a nurse is not something you do — it is truly who you are. With deep gratitude to our nurses!”

Deborah Browning, M.S.N., RN, CENP | CEO of Children’s & Women’s Hospital

"As we celebrate Nurses Week, I am filled with gratitude and pride. As a fellow nurse, I am deeply honored to be part of such an exceptional team of caregivers within USA Health. Your commitment to excellence and your willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty inspire me daily. Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed, and I am profoundly grateful for each one of you. You are not just nurses; you are superheroes — making a difference in the lives of others every day. Thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and your passion for nursing. Happy Nurses Week!”

Natalie Fox, D.N.P., PNP-BC | Chief Physician Enterprise Officer

"I often say to our community that miracles happen every day at Providence. We extend life through advanced procedures using advanced technology, improve overall community health, and bring new life into this world as new babies are born. These miracles could not happen without the dedication of those servant leaders we call nurses. Nurses have been, and continue to be, an incredible part of the mission that is USA Health Providence. I am extremely proud of our clinical staff and our nurses who continue to carry out our mission of healing that has existed for 170 years at Providence. Thank you for the care you have given to our community and thank you personally for the care you have given to my own family.”

- Todd Kennedy, M.B.A., MSHA, FACHE | CEO of USA Health Providence

“As Nurses Week commences, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication and compassionate care. Your tireless efforts, especially during challenging times, inspire us all and remind us of the incredible impact you have on patients' lives. Your commitment to excellence, empathy, and professionalism does not go unnoticed, and it is deeply appreciated. Thank you for being the backbone of healthcare, for your selflessness, and for the kindness you extend to every individual under your care. Your contributions make a profound difference in our communities, and for that, we are profoundly thankful. Happy Nurses Week!”
