USA Health celebrates Nurses Week 2021.

Published May 4th, 2021

USA Health will celebrate National Nurses Week from May 6 to May 12. Approximately 1,240 of USA Health’s regular employees are nurses, with an additional 230 working as temporary or PRN nurses.

May 12 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is credited with being the founder of modern nursing. As a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War (1853-1856), she advocated for her patients and eventually opened a school for nurses.

This year’s Nurses Week is taking on a beach theme. On May 5 and May 7, nurses at USA Health will receive beach-themed T-shirts they can wear to work May 10-14. Check with your supervisor for other treats and activities.

Recently, nurses at various USA Health facilities posed for beach-themed snapshots to get ready for their special week.

“Our Chemo Sabe volunteers astound me with their dedication, not just to patients but to the staff as well,” said Susan Crutchfield, community and physician outreach manager at the Mitchell Cancer Institute. “They seem to lift everyone’s spirits when there, and they have a reciprocal caring relationship with staff.”
