Mitchell Cancer Institute development director named

Caroline Smith has been named director of development for USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. In her new role, she will develop and implement a strategic, comprehensive development program for the Mitchell Cancer Institute.

Caroline Smith has been named director of development for USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. In her new role, she will develop and implement a strategic, comprehensive development program for the Mitchell Cancer Institute.

“Our ability to provide new and innovative care is directly linked to the generosity of our donors,” said Kelly McCarron, USA Health associate vice president for medical affairs development. “Caroline will play a pivotal role in strengthening our philanthropic base to support our mission in helping people live longer, better lives.”

Prior to her appointment, Smith was a corporate and foundation relations officer at the University of South Alabama. Her other work experiences include serving as director of development for the Cannon School in Concord, N.C.; director of engagement at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.; and fundraising and marketing director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama in Mobile.

Smith is a graduate of Auburn University. She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Grant Professionals Association.
