Center for Healthy Communities to host medical town hall this weekend

The town halls, which have drawn as many as 50 participants, are designed to strengthen trust and build relationships between the medical community and local residents.

The Center for Healthy Communities at USA Health, in partnership with the Mobile Metropolitan Medical Society, invites the public to its next medical town hall on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at Amity Missionary Baptist Church, 2451 St. Stephens Rd. in Mobile.

Local health leaders will provide medical updates, discuss health topics, and answer questions from the community. Programs from the Center for Healthy Communities, the USA Health Stroke Program and others will offer free services and resources including:

  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Youth violence prevention information
  • Hospital-based violence intervention program
  • Stroke education and prevention
  • Clothing giveaway

Ashley Williams Hogue, M.D., trauma surgeon at USA Health and director of the Center for Healthy Communities, said the series of town halls has been successful in drawing residents into meaningful conversations with providers.

The town halls, which have drawn as many as 50 participants, are designed to strengthen trust and build relationships between the medical community and local residents.

This event is free and open to the public.
