Herrington receives DAISY Educator Award

Cheralyn CJ Herrington, BSN, RN, CCRN-P

Cheralyn CJ Herrington, BSN, RN, CCRN-P, a nurse educator in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, received a DAISY Award in recognition of her hard work, dedication, and support for patients and staff. Colleagues say she always goes above and beyond in everything she does. Whether she is offering guidance at the bedside, supporting newer nurses, or just being present whenever she is needed, she is always willing to help.  

Her passion for education also sets her apart. She makes learning fun, memorable, and engaging by using creative games (such as Family Feud) and videos for staff nurses. One of her most remarkable accomplishments has been developing a PICU nurse residency program. Her leadership has strengthened the unit. She also played a role in the highly successful nurse competency fair. Her ability to organize, motivate, and inspire others is seen in every project she is a part of.  

“She is simply an amazing nurse and person,” one co-worker said. “She genuinely loves the PICU and cares for all patients and staff. She represents the purpose of the DAISY Award nomination, and she is an outstanding choice for this award.”


Griffin receives DAISY Leader Award  

Kathleen Griffin, BSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM

Kathleen Griffin, BSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, a nurse supervisor in Labor & Delivery at Children’s & Women’s Hospital, recently received a DAISY Leader Award. Colleagues say she has given many years to the health system and its patients.

“I truly can’t think of anyone else who works harder than her,” one co-worker said. “She has oriented and taught countless nurses throughout the years. She is always willing to jump in and lend a hand. Every time we get busy and are dealing with a lot, she is always right beside you. She always has our backs in every situation and always goes to bat for us. I truly cannot say enough amazing words about her. She is one of a kind and we are so grateful and blessed to have her.”

“Kathleen is always so helpful and ready to jump in. Whether that means helping to take a patient upstairs, helping turn a patient, even taking labs or getting blood, she is always there to help her team before we even have to ask!”


DAISY Nurse Leader Award honors Lynley Walsh, RN

Lynley Walsh, RN, has been named the first DAISY Nurse Leader Award honoree at the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. She exemplifies exceptional leadership through her compassion, consistency, and dedication to both patients and staff. Known for her calm and approachable demeanor, Walsh fosters a supportive and collaborative environment grounded in trust, respect, and professionalism. She skillfully balances leadership responsibilities while actively supporting clinic operations, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Often described as the “bridge” of her team, Walsh consistently goes above and beyond to mentor others, improve workflows, and strengthen collaboration, making her truly deserving of this recognition.
