Children’s & Women’s nurse recognized with Daisy Award
Savannah Quire, RN, who works in the Arlene Mitchell Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's & Women’s Hospital, was recently honored with a Daisy Award for the exceptional care, compassion, and patience she shows to patients and their family members. Here’s what one grateful mom wrote:
“During an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family, Savannah made a meaningful difference not only in my daughter’s care, but in our overall experience. My daughter was intubated and understandably very agitated and uncomfortable. It was heartbreaking as a parent to watch, but Savannah handled every moment with calmness, patience, and genuine compassion. She never rushed through her care. Instead, she consistently took the time to soothe and reassure, speaking to her in a gentle and comforting way even when my daughter could not fully respond. Her presence alone brought a sense of peace into the room. She treated her as more than just a patient; she treated her like a person who deserved dignity, comfort, and understanding, even in the most vulnerable state.”
Mitchell Cancer Institute names May employee of the month
Jawon James, a medical assistant in medical oncology at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, was named employee of the month for May.
