Ritchie receives DAISY Award
Garland Ritchie, RN, a nurse in the surgical services department at Providence Hospital, was presented with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Comments from his nomination included:
"Garland has been here for a long time. He is a phenomenal example of what nursing leadership should be. He STRIVES to ensure EVERY patient is taken care of to the absolute maximum ability of the whole care team. Those who are lucky enough to experience his care as a patient would all say the same thing, 'They were in the best hands possible.'"
Torres named employee of the month
Billy Torres, a medical physicist who works in radiation oncology at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, was named employee of the month for January. Among the comments made about Torres in his nomination:
“He is always the first to volunteer his assistance and expertise, and his tireless work ethic and lofty standards drive his excellence…. Without his dedication, the radiation therapy department in both Baldwin and Mobile counties would be at a severe disadvantage.”
