Patient Experience winners recognized at Children’s & Women’s Hospital

USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital is recognizing its most recent Patient Experience winners. These awards are presented to staff members who go above and beyond their daily duties to deliver exceptional care to patients.  

In June, Tate Langley, a radiology technologist, won. Here is what a patient had to say about him:  

“Tate was extremely friendly, kind and professional! He really knew his stuff and explained my procedure thoroughly. He talked with me through it to be sure I was comfortable and not having any issues. That was a first for me. I've had scans at other facilities and once I was on the table, I did not have any staff speak with me until the scans were over. A very personal touch by that young man!”  

In July, Shelley Cope, RN, who works in the Women's Complex Care Unit, was recognized for her compassion. Here’s what the parent of a patient had to say:

“Shelley is hands down the BEST nurse. Her level of care is beyond any I've ever experienced. My daughter was in pain after having her second C-section. Shelley was patient and incredibly kind to help get her pain under control. She is an angel!”

Kendrick McCants, a patient transport aide in the Patient Transport Department, was selected as the August winner. Here is what a patient had to say about him:

“As we pulled under the entry awning for me to be dropped off, there was one of the transport guys bringing a lady out to catch her ride home. That young man was so sweet and cheerful! I asked if I could catch a ride in since he was there at the perfect time. He giggled, saying, ‘Yes ma'am, no problem at all.’ Sometimes these testing days are very stressful while being surrounded by the unknown as a patient. His contagious smile truly helped calm my anxiety!”

FED celebrated for being recognized as the ‘Most Kind Workplace’

The USA Health Spiritual Health and Counseling Department recently hosted a chalk drawing event that encouraged employees to share messages of kindness on sidewalks at locations throughout the health system. The USA Health Freestanding Emergency Department was recognized as the ‘Most Kind Workplace’ during the friendly competition and was treated with a pizza party from Mellow Mushroom.
