Kasim named BEEEE Award honoree

Amir Kasim, part of the IT team at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, was named the BEEEE Award honoree for the second quarter. The BEE Award honors USA Health’s non-nursing team members who support patients, families, or providers by consistently demonstrating excellence through teamwork, compassionate care, and exemplary service. Among the comments in his nomination:

• “Amir is the epitome of Johnny on the Spot. Every day, he makes his rounds through MCI to check on ALL the staff and make sure the devices, computers, phones are working properly and that no one is having any issues.”
• “Amir is observant, thoughtful and always take the initiative to make what we do here that much better.”
• “Amir is knowledgeable and available to assist whenever we encounter trouble. He is friendly and has a calming presence wherever he goes. He truly provides outstanding service on a daily basis.”

Mitchell Cancer Institute names Barnett employee of the month

Amy Barnett, a patient services coordinator in the call center, was named employee of the month for July at the Mitchell Cancer Institute.

Among the comments made in her nomination:

• “Despite the demanding pace, Amy approaches every interaction with patience, compassion and professionalism. She understands that for many of our patients, the person answering the phone is their first connection to MCI, and she ensures every caller feels heard, respected and supported.”
• “One of her most admirable qualities is her humility. She quietly and consistently performs her job at an exceptional level without seeking recognition or asking for praise.”
