USA Health expands with opening of industrial medicine practice in Mobile

USA Health Industrial Medicine provides acute care services for work-related injuries and preventive care for work-related illnesses.

USA Health Industrial Medicine, located at 1976 Michigan Ave., is accepting new patients at its office near downtown Mobile at Brookley Field. Specializing in workers’ compensation evaluation, treatment, physical exams and medical surveillance, USA Health Industrial Medicine provides acute care services for work-related injuries and preventive care for work-related illnesses.

Robert Ross III, M.D., M.P.H., medical director of USA Health Industrial Medicine, and Romarius Longmire, M.D., M.P.H., occupational and environmental medicine physician at USA Health Industrial Medicine, focus on the well-being and productivity of workers by addressing the prevention and management of workers’ compensation evaluation and disability. They also perform pre-employment evaluations and testing to meet the growing needs of employers in our area.

Ross has practiced medicine in Mobile for more than 41 years and became the first residency-trained and board-certified occupational medicine specialist in Mobile in 1993. He also was the first to develop an industrial medicine program in 1994.

Ross earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed residency training in occupational medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also received a Master of Public Health from UAB. He is a Certified Medical Review Officer, Certified DOT Medical Examiner, a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.

Longmire is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as an officer and a physician in the Medical Corps. He is a proven leader with a strong focus on improving health in the workplace, increasing workplace safety, reducing disability and decreasing ergonomic hazards through research and application of analytical sciences such as mathematics, epidemiology and biostatistics.

A West Point graduate, he earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, and completed his residency training in Occupational Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He also received a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
