Travis Goodloe III inducted into international honor society Sigma Xi
A respected physician, researcher, and educator, Travis Goodloe, M.D., also serves as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Whiddon College of Medicine and is the medical director of Mobile County EMS.

Travis Bedsole Goodloe III, M.D., a physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at USA Health, the academic health system for the University of South Alabama, has been inducted into Sigma Xi, an international honor society of science and engineering.
Membership in Sigma Xi is by invitation only and follows a review of a scientist’s scholarly work by the organization’s board of directors. Candidates are evaluated on academic productivity before members vote on whether to extend an invitation. The society’s mission is to honor scientific accomplishments, encourage and enhance worldwide appreciation and support of original investigation in science and technology, and foster dynamic interaction among science, technology, and society.
Goodloe said he is honored to join the fellowship of recognized scientists worldwide that can bring further collaboration, grant opportunities, requests for proposals and career development to colleagues and trainees at USA’s Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.
A respected physician, researcher, and educator, Goodloe also serves as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Whiddon College of Medicine and is the medical director of Mobile County EMS.
Goodloe received a medical degree from the Whiddon College of Medicine in 2020. He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a one-year EMS fellowship at UTHealth Houston.
While a medical student, he was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Merck Award, given to the senior student who demonstrated superior academic achievement. He also received the Department of Emergency Medicine’s Award of Excellence for outstanding performance and academic excellence in emergency medicine.
Goodloe is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Medical Association, the National Association of EMS Physicians, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine.
