
18th annual GO Run raises nearly $90,000 for gynecologic cancer research at the Mitchell Cancer Institute
This year’s attendance marked an increase of about 125 participants compared to 2024, highlighting the event’s growing impact and community support.
More than 800 runners and walkers gathered on Saturday, Sept. 27, for the 18th annual GO Run that raised $88,869 to advance gynecologic cancer research at the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI).
Presented by the Catranis Family Foundation, the GO Run was held at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the University of South Alabama campus for a morning of movement, remembrance, and celebration. Participants from eight states joined cancer survivors, loved ones, and other supporters for a 5K race, 1-Mile Fun Run, and post-race festivities that included sponsor booths and a kids’ area.

More than 100 individual participants received medals across multiple age groups and categories, including:
- Highest Fundraising Team: “Shake Your Teal Feathers” raised more than $3,000
- Largest team: “Shake Your Teal Feathers” with 59 members
- Best Dressed Team: “Exercise Warriors”
- Spirit Award: “Gentiva Divas”
Funds raised through the GO Run stay within the community, supporting ongoing research led by MCI scientists and physicians to improve prevention, early detection, and treatment of gynecologic cancers.
