USA Health GME Updates: 90 residents attend orientation

Other updates include inaugural graduation ceremonies for two fellowship programs and Lorie Fleck, M.D., FACS, receiving an award from emergency medicine residents.

USA Health welcomed 90 resident physicians during resident orientation with tours, safety training, and a breakfast on Friday, June 28.

The Mitchell Cancer Institute marked the inaugural graduation of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program as it celebrated Annelise Wilhite, M.D., who graduated June 21 at Magnolia Manor alongside the OB-GYN Residency Program Class of 2024. Wilhite, right, receives her recognition from program director Jennifer Young Pierce, M.D., M.P.H.

The Mitchell Cancer Institute celebrated the first graduating class of the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program on June 28 at the USA Faculty Club. Graduates included Anita Mazloom, M.D., left, and Daisy Escobar, M.D.

Lorie Fleck, M.D., FACS, received an award for Best Off-Service Consultant or Service from the USA Health Department of Emergency Medicine. Fleck, an associate professor of urology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine and director of the urology residency program at USA Health, was recognized for excellent clinical care, support and education for emergency medicine residents during the 2023-2024 academic year.
