The University of South Alabama’s Continuing Education and Conference Services is hosting a 12-week Community Health Workers (CHW) training program that will begin Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025.

CHWs are trained public health workers who serve as a bridge between communities, healthcare systems and state health departments. They work alongside the administrative teams and have a close understanding of the communities they serve.

The USA program includes online and in-person classes each week, and site placements or other supervised community activities.

Participants will also be provided basic training in chronic disease prevention advocacy and mental health first aid to better facilitate integration in both clinical and community-based environments.
