It’s not too late to complete the Census

USA Health encourages all employees to complete the 2020 Census survey, which takes less than 10 minutes.

Every 10 years, the United States counts the number of people who live in the nation. This understanding of where people live determines the number of representatives each state receives in the U.S. House of Representatives. This may not sound like such a big deal, but it is. This representation can impact dramatically the federal funding received by each state. And that is very important, especially in the healthcare arena. Literally billions of dollars from federal health care and research programs flow into the state.

Alabama’s hospitals employ 90,000 people. If all employees and their family members were to be counted in the census, the number would represent about 6 percent of the state’s population. That’s a significant impact.

For this reason, USA Health encourages all employees to complete the 2020 Census survey, which takes less than 10 minutes. As a thank-you, the first 20 people to demonstrate they have completed the survey will receive a free “Hospitals Count” T-shirt donated by the Alabama Hospital Association.

To request a T-shirt, email confirmation of your completed survey to Carol McPhail.
