For the second time in three months, USA Health has been named one of the best employers in Alabama by Forbes. The latest recognition positions the health system for the University of South Alabama as one of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2025. USA Health placed 35th on the list of top employers in the state, joining a distinguished group of organizations across industries, including healthcare, education, retail, restaurants and travel.
The annual ranking, developed by Forbes in partnership with Statista, is based on a comprehensive survey of more than 160,000 employees across the United States. Eligible organizations included companies and institutions with at least 500 employees. Respondents provided feedback on key factors such as fair pay, workplace culture, opportunities for career advancement, and how well their employers address significant workplace issues. Employees were also invited to share their perspectives on previous employers and other organizations within their industries, creating a broad view of workplace satisfaction.
“Being recognized as one of the best employers in Alabama twice in one year is a reflection of the incredible people who make USA Health what it is today,” said Natalie Fox, DNP, PNP-BC, interim CEO for USA Health. “Our employees are the foundation of our mission, and this ranking reinforces our ongoing commitment to providing an environment where they can grow professionally, feel valued, and make a meaningful impact on the health of our community.”
USA Health is the leading academic health system along the upper Gulf Coast, serving as both a healthcare provider and a training ground for the next generation of healthcare professionals. With a workforce of more than 7,300 employees, the health system is a part of the University of South Alabama and operates University Hospital, Children’s & Women’s Hospital, Providence Hospital, the Mitchell Cancer Institute, and an expanding network of physician practices and specialty care centers.
This recognition emphasizes USA Health’s efforts to foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and innovation. From offering competitive benefits and professional development opportunities to investing in initiatives that support employee well-being, USA Health is continually evolving to meet the needs of its team while fulfilling its three-part mission of patient care, research, and education.
Forbes’ Best-In-State Employers list highlights 1,417 organizations across the country that received the highest evaluations from their employees, resulting in more than 2,500 state-specific rankings, as some companies were ranked across multiple states.
This recognition builds on USA Health’s achievement of being named to Forbes’ 2025 Best Employers for New Graduates list released earlier this year.
