U.S. News and World Report's Top Doctors
Dr. William Richards is among physicians at the University of South Alabama named in the most recent US News and World Report's Top Doctors. He serves as professor and chair of surgery at the USA College of Medicine. He directs the laparoscopic and bariatric surgery programs at USA and is also a member surgeon with the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. Dr. Richard’s clinical interests focus on surgical treatment of achalasia, paraesophageal hernias, Barrett's esophagus, adrenal tumors, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Type 2 diabetes and motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract using minimally invasive surgical procedures. We appreciate your interest in the undergraduate and graduate General Surgical Educational Programs at this institution. The program was founded in 1949 at the Mobile General Hospital and we are proud of the continuous clinical service, education, and research provided to the community since that time.
