Informed by research, the summer outreach is part of year-round efforts initiated by Children’s & Women’s Hospital to share education and keep kids safe.
“It’s important to use clarifiers when the information might be unclear, especially patient names, procedure or test names, and medication names,” said Becky Pomrenke, RN, MSN, director of patient safety for USA Health.

“My husband and I are so thankful to the entire medical team and staff at Children’s & Women’s for taking such great care of our little girl,” Lauren Mueller said. “They provided so much medical, mental and emotional support throughout the entire process and we are so grateful to everyone who took care of us.”

“This is an exciting step forward in understanding how ovarian cancer cells thrive in the acidic environments that tumors create,” said Kevin Lee, Ph.D., assistant professor of research for gynecologic oncology at MCI, and corresponding author of the study.

“Having this work accepted for publication in Nature is a rare and significant accomplishment – one that reflects the power of a bold scientific idea, carried forward by hard work and perseverance,” said Christopher Davies, Ph.D.

The event, now a local tradition, brings together cancer survivors, loved ones, and community members for a morning of movement, remembrance, and celebration.

Funded by a grant from the Alabama Department of Public Health, LAPOP operates through a mobile RV clinic that travels to Mobile, Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Washington, and Escambia counties.
