“Hypertension is the single largest contributor to death and affects about 50% of U.S. adults,” said Julie Groom, MSHA, BSN, RN, director of cardiology at USA Health Providence Hospital. “Of the adults that are aware of their hypertension, about 80% do not have it under control. This gives patients an additional option to help control high blood pressure.”

W. Johnson Hardy III, M.D., is the first fellowship-trained vascular surgeon employed at USA Health, the health system for the University of South Alabama. He is one of five surgeons who recently returned to Mobile and USA Health after completing advanced fellowship training.

Justin Ellerman, M.D., completed his internal medicine residency and chief year at the USA Health, where he discovered a passion for academic medicine and mentoring future physicians. His motivation for joining USA Health is twofold: a commitment to patient-centered innovation and a love of teaching.
