Because of safety concerns related to COVID-19, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital has postponed its annual bell ringing ceremony that celebrates patients who have completed their treatment for childhood cancer.

Morrison Healthcare, which has roots in Mobile as Morrison’s Cafeteria, will assume operations on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Project Inspire was an idea that Jon Simmons, M.D., trauma medical director and chief of trauma and acute care surgery at USA Health, had after previously witnessing a “scared straight” type of program.

USA Health University Hospital has a new cloud-based system for submitting and tracking maintenance and environmental services requests.

The software allows USA Health employees access to cloud-based files such as Microsoft Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in a HIPAA-compliant way.

As a thank-you from the health system, employees will receive special meals, snacks and gifts every few weeks through December.

The plan put into effect new training, such as pocket cards for employees, and new practices, such as around-the-clock checklists for supervisors.

The gift shops at Children’s & Women’s Hospital and University Hospital are now reopened and offering complimentary delivery inside the hospitals.
