Target Audience

This program will be of particular interest to Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Family Medicine Physicians, ARNPs, PAs, CNMs, Nursing Professionals, Social Workers, and other healthcare team members interested in the healthcare of women and newborns.



This educational activity was developed in response to needs of healthcare providers in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, family medicine, nursing, and social work from previous course evaluations, government guidelines, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), and as identified by the USA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. At the conclusion of this activity, the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Incorporate guidelines based on ACOG criteria for practice management into clinical practice to improve obstetrical care.
  2. Evaluate information as presented to incorporate recommended best practice into the women’s healthcare team.

The University of South Alabama, College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, ARNPs, Nurses and Social Workers. This Educational Program was approved for:

  • 14 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM; 6.75 hours on Thursday and 7.25 hours on Friday including 2 hours opioid credit on Friday that meets the requirement for Physician Alabama medical licensure.
  • 16.2 contact hours for nursing CE; 8.1 contact hours Thursday and 8.1 hours Friday through Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • 8 CE for Social Workers (Provider #0465 expires 10/31/2019); 2.25 hours on Thursday and 5.75 hours on Friday through Social Worker Board.

Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Alabama nurses must have their Board of Nursing CE card with them to be scanned for CEU credit at the end of each day.
